Visit-timed care

LASIK & eye care during your India visit

Eye procedures are the most visit-friendly surgery there is: LASIK and SMILE are next-day-fly procedures, cataract surgery is a 3–5-day affair, and India’s ophthalmology bench is deep at tier-2 prices. Indore even has a verifiable specialty anchor — a retina hospital whose medical-tourism desk has served patients from more than 25 countries. Here is how to do it properly.

Procedures, windows and market ranges

Procedure Typical stay Before flying Market range
LASIK / SMILE / Contoura 1–3 days Typically cleared the next day; a 3–7 day dry-eye comfort buffer is sensible ~$700–1,500 both eyes (market range)
Cataract surgery (per eye) 3–5 days Short buffer before flying; second eye usually staged ~$900–1,100/eye (published international-desk ranges)
Retina procedures Case by case Set by the treating specialist Quoted per case

Market ranges are clinic-advertised figures from published guides and international desks (accessed October 2026) — your written plan prices your actual eyes.

The assessment decides, not the brochure

The single most valuable thing we do for eye trips is protect you from a decision made before the assessment. Corneal mapping, prescription stability and eye health sometimes conclude that LASIK is the wrong tool — and an honest clinic says so. Our planning consult books the assessment with the right specialist, and if the answer is “not LASIK”, the written second opinion lays out what the alternatives actually are for your eyes.

Timing the year: the air-quality note

Indore’s winter air quality dips from November through January — an irritant worth planning around for recovering eyes. The comfortable windows are October to early November and from late February onward. It is a small thing, and it is exactly the kind of local honesty a facilitator based in the city owes you.

What you pay Medtu Care

We take no commissions from hospitals. Our fees are paid by you, published upfront, and itemized separately from your hospital bill. The eye hospital bills you directly; we add nothing to its invoice. Our fees are the published ladder: see the fee schedule.

Visit eye care: FAQs

Can LASIK really be done inside a short visit?
Yes — it is the one-trip procedure by design: assessment, the procedure itself and a next-day check, with flying typically cleared within a day or two. We still advise a comfort buffer of a few days for the dry cabin-air environment, and your surgeon has the final word on your eyes’ readiness.
Is Indore genuinely an eye-care destination?
For eye care specifically, yes — with a verifiable anchor: Indore’s Retina Speciality Hospital maintains a dedicated medical-tourism desk, states a 48-hour turnaround on visa-invitation letters, arranges Arabic and French interpreters inside its packages, and reports treating patients from more than 25 countries. That is the hospital’s own reporting; what we add is independent shortlisting, quotes you can verify, and someone accountable on the ground.
When in the year is the sensible time for eye procedures?
One honest local note: Indore’s winter air quality dips from November through January, which is an irritant for recovering eyes. The comfortable windows are October to early November, and from late February onward. We schedule eye trips around that reality rather than pretend it away.
How do I know if I am even a LASIK candidate?
Corneal thickness, prescription stability, age and eye health decide it — and a proper work-up sometimes concludes that LASIK is not for you (ICL or cataract-class options may be). The honest path is the assessment first and the decision second, which is why our planning consult books the assessment without committing you to the procedure.
What does Medtu Care charge for eye-care coordination?
The published ladder: $50 to plan and book the assessment; $150 to have a treatment plan or competing quotes reviewed in writing; $1,000 only for journeys with real coordination work — for example retina cases needing admission-level planning. Every fee is credited in full to the next step: the $50 consultation fee comes off the $150 second opinion, and the $150 second-opinion fee comes off the $1,000 full journey fee. You never pay twice for moving forward.

We are hospital-neutral. Medtu Care has no commercial affiliation with the hospitals described unless expressly stated, and we take no commissions from any hospital.
