Visit-timed care

A health checkup during your India visit

The annual checkup is the most common piece of medical care the diaspora fits into a trip home: a comprehensive day at a private hospital at a fraction of comparable screening abroad, with reports you can carry home. Done well, it is also more than a day of tests — it is the once-a-year chance to have someone neutral interpret the results and plan the year ahead. Here is how we run it, honestly priced.

What do checkup packages look like?

Indore’s private hospitals publish their check menus openly, and the bands are a fair picture of tier-2 pricing:

Tier Typically includes Indore pricing signal
Basic screening Blood panel, sugar, lipids, blood pressure, physician consult Entry packages at Indore hospitals start around ₹1,499 (published menus)
Standard / comprehensive Wider labs, ECG, chest X-ray, ultrasound, eye and dental checks Mid-menu tiers at Shalby, CARE CHL and Bombay Hospital (published menus)
Executive / premium Full panels with imaging (CT/calciumpscoring-class), specialist consults, longer day Top menu tiers run to roughly ₹7,000 (published menus)

These are the hospitals’ own published prices (accessed October 2026), not our prices — you pay the hospital directly. Medtu Care adds nothing to any hospital bill.

We are hospital-neutral. Medtu Care has no commercial affiliation with the hospitals described unless expressly stated, and we take no commissions from any hospital.

The part most checkups miss: what happens after

A folder of reports is not the same as an answer. The failure mode of visit-timed checkups is well known: borderline results get a shrug at the airport, and the year passes. Our written-opinion rung exists to close that gap — a specialist’s written interpretation of your results, what to watch, what to repeat and when, delivered to you (and to your parents, if the checkup was theirs) in writing you can act on from abroad.

The visa and timing facts

OCI cardholders need no visa. Nepali citizens need standard ID. Other foreign nationals: a health screening day can usually sit within a regular visit visa for a casual consultation, but a planned diagnostic programme is what the e-Medical visa exists for — tell us your nationality and plans and we will point you at the correct category before you book anything. Book the checkup early in your trip: if anything needs a follow-up test, you want the days for it.

What you pay Medtu Care

We take no commissions from hospitals. Our fees are paid by you, published upfront, and itemized separately from your hospital bill. The checkup is the hospital’s price, paid by you at the hospital’s counter. Our fees are the published ladder: see the fee schedule.

Visit checkups: FAQs

Why do a checkup in India during a visit, rather than at home?
Three practical reasons people give us: cost (published Indore hospital menus run from around ₹1,499 to roughly ₹7,000 — a fraction of comparable private screening in the US, UK or Australia); speed (a comprehensive day can be booked inside a family visit rather than a wait of weeks); and continuity (many of our diaspora clients carry years of reports from the same Indian hospitals). It is a convenience and value decision, not a medical necessity — a checkup at home is never a bad idea either.
How do I choose the right package level?
From your history, not from the menu. Age, family history, existing conditions and what your last screening missed determine which tests are worth your day — a longer list is not automatically a better checkup. That choice is exactly what the planning teleconsult is for: we match the package to your case, book it around your dates, and prepare the hospital for your history.
What happens if a result shows something?
Then the result gets taken seriously, not sold to. An incidental finding needs a calm, staged response: a repeat or confirmatory test, the right specialist consult, and a written interpretation you can carry home. That is the written-opinion rung of our ladder. If — and only if — a finding needs real work-up or admission, it becomes a full-journey case. We do not manufacture drama out of borderline results, and we have no financial reason to: hospitals pay us nothing.
Can you do the checkup for my parents while I am abroad?
Yes — the planning consult can be theirs, the booking is ours, and the written summary comes to you in your language of preference so the year ahead is planned with real information. Many diaspora families do exactly this during the annual visit.
What does Medtu Care charge for a checkup journey?
The ladder: $50 to plan and book the right package, $150 if you want the results interpreted in writing, and $1,000 reserved for cases where a finding needs real coordination. Every fee is credited in full to the next step: the $50 consultation fee comes off the $150 second opinion, and the $150 second-opinion fee comes off the $1,000 full journey fee. You never pay twice for moving forward. A checkup alone is a planning-consult event, and we price it that way.
