Medical treatment in India from Gabon
Gabon is a small country, and for complex specialist care (heart surgery, cancer treatment, transplant work-ups), travelling abroad is an established path. Those journeys have traditionally pointed to Europe and North Africa, often with an employer or the state involved. India’s case is for the family paying its own way: serious specialist care at a fraction of European costs, itemized quotes everyone funding the journey can verify, and one accountable person to reach throughout.
You always pay the hospital directly. We never hold treatment money. Our fees are published on the Fees page and appear as a separate line item, never inside a hospital bill.
Costs you can verify
Itemized hospital quotes and a published facilitation fee: documents a family in Libreville and a relative in Paris can read side by side.
Who this guide is for
- A specialist procedure has been advised (cardiac care, cancer treatment, kidney or urology work, complex orthopedics) that means travelling beyond Gabon
- Past journeys abroad were employer- or state-assisted, but this one is family-funded, and you need costs everyone can read and verify
- A relative in France or elsewhere abroad is helping to pay and wants documents they can check from a distance
- You want a specialist opinion on your case before anyone spends serious money on flights
How it works, step by step
- 1
Records first
You share your diagnosis and what has been advised. We send a secure link for reports and imaging (nothing sensitive goes through the website form). Records in French are fine; we organize your file so a specialist can act on it, and flag early anything that needs translation.
- 2
Teleconsult or written second opinion
Before anyone books a flight, a specialist relevant to your condition reviews your case: a $50 video consultation or a $150 written opinion. Consultations run in English; tell us your language needs upfront and we plan around them, including having an English-speaking family member join. Sometimes the honest answer is that travel is not needed.
- 3
Your decision
If treatment in India makes sense, you get itemized quotes from suitable hospitals and a side-by-side comparison for your case. You decide; there is no obligation to continue.
- 4
Medical visa
Gabonese nationals are generally understood to be eligible for India’s e-Medical visa, applied for online. Confirm current terms on the official Indian visa portal, as rules change. We coordinate the hospital invitation letter the application needs. A yellow-fever vaccination certificate is required for travel to India from Gabon.
- 5
Travel
There are no direct flights from Libreville to India. Realistic routings run one or two stops, typically via Addis Ababa, and make for a long journey. Our travel arm Tripcuro plans the routing around your admission date, with airport pickup in India and accommodation near the hospital.
- 6
Treatment
You pay the hospital directly, on the hospital’s own invoice, at the rates locked before you flew. A named coordinator handles the practical side so your family can focus on you.
- 7
Follow-up at home
Before you fly back you get your complete records, a discharge bill audit against the locked quote, and a written follow-up plan your treating doctor in Gabon can pick up.
Visa reality
Gabonese nationals are generally understood to be eligible for India's e-Medical visa, applied for entirely online. Confirm current eligibility and validity terms on the official Indian visa portal before applying, as rules change. A yellow-fever vaccination certificate is required for travel to India from Gabon. We coordinate the hospital invitation letter your application needs and hand you a checklist; decisions and timelines belong to the Indian authorities, and we will never pretend to influence them.
Flights reality
There are no direct flights from Libreville to India, and we will not dress that up. Workable routings as of mid-2026 typically connect via Addis Ababa, with one or two stops and a long door-to-door journey; treatment beyond the Indian gateway city usually adds one short domestic connection. Tripcuro, our sister travel company, plans the whole chain: flights around your admission date, airport pickup, and accommodation near your hospital.
How payment works
Two separate payments, never mixed. Treatment costs go from you to the hospital directly, on the hospital's own invoice, at rates we lock in writing before you travel. We never hold or route treatment money. Our facilitation fee is published on the Fees page ($50 teleconsult · $150 written second opinion · $1,000 full journey, milestone-gated), each step credited in full to the next. We take no commissions from hospitals. Our fees are paid by you, published upfront, and itemized separately from your hospital bill. The CFA franc's euro peg keeps hard-currency planning relatively predictable, but transfers abroad still take time, so we lock quotes in writing and start the payment early. A relative abroad can pay the hospital directly in their own currency.
What to prepare
- A passport valid well beyond your travel dates (check the current validity requirement when applying)
- Your most recent medical reports, imaging and prescriptions (French originals are fine)
- A yellow-fever vaccination certificate, required for travel to India from Gabon
- A realistic funding plan: who is paying, and how the money reaches the hospital directly
- Your two or three most important questions for the specialist, written down

Share your case in a few lines. WhatsApp works well, in English or French, and a relative abroad can write to us on your behalf. A person reads it and comes back with honest next steps, including whether travelling is worth it at all.
