Heart treatment in India for Namibian patients
Specialist heart care abroad has usually meant South Africa for Namibian families, and for many cardiac cases that remains the right answer — a decision worth saying out loud before anything else. India enters the picture for a specific set of circumstances: a cardiac procedure priced beyond reach at private rates nearer home, or a depth of sub-specialization a regional centre does not hold, with the family planning to self-fund most or all of it. The route is easier than the geography suggests: records travel in English from Windhoek or Walvis Bay, the e-Medical visa is applied for online, and Windhoek reaches India with one stop through Doha or through Johannesburg and a Gulf hub. The discipline that protects a family is the same everywhere: an independent verdict on the advice before money moves, a quote itemized tightly enough to be audited, and payments that run through your bank against documents the bank already accepts as evidence. This page works through that sequence for a heart case in particular.
We take no commissions from hospitals. Our fees are paid by you, published upfront, and itemized separately from your hospital bill. Full details on the Fees page.
Published fees, same from every country
- Remote consultation (teleconsult) $50
- Written independent second opinion $150
- Full journey coordination $1,000
Every fee is credited in full to the next step: the $50 consultation fee comes off the $150 second opinion, and the $150 second-opinion fee comes off the $1,000 full journey fee. You never pay twice for moving forward.
What the cardiac file settles, quickly and in English
Records from Namibia arrive in English, which removes a whole layer of friction and lets the review start almost immediately. The file a cardiologist can act on is compact: a recent ECG, an echocardiogram with its measurements, the angiogram images themselves where a catheterization has been performed at a Namibian or South African unit, and a medicine list carrying exact doses. From that package a reviewing specialist can say whether the procedure proposed for you sits within accepted practice for your anatomy, what the alternatives would be, and which points belong back with your own cardiologist. Images outrank prose, so request the angiogram on disc or by file transfer rather than settling for the typed summary. Where a record is stale or a finding is ambiguous, the review says what is missing instead of planning quietly around it — because a verdict built on a thin file serves nobody.
The verdict before the family commits
Because South Africa sits next door and holds most Namibian referrals, the question a Namibian cardiac family needs answered first is comparative, not logistical: is the advised procedure right, and does India genuinely add something over what Windhoek and Johannesburg already provide. A $50 video consultation or a $150 written opinion puts your file before an Indian cardiologist who is paid by you and by no hospital, so the answer owes nothing to any theatre list: is surgery the right route or would a stent serve, how urgent is it really, and what would each path ask of you afterwards. Both fees are credited in full if you go on to travel with us. Because we only facilitate treatment in India, we have nothing to gain from a journey you do not need — and sometimes the honest answer is that South Africa is the more sensible destination, which the opinion will say plainly, in writing, while the family can still act on it.
Itemized quotes, and the Common Monetary Area paperwork
A cardiac quote carries more variable parts than almost any other: the operation, the stent count and type or the valve model, ICU days, perfusion, blood products, and the medicines you leave with. We obtain every quote itemized by the hospital — each significant component on its own line, priced in USD and locked in writing before you fly — because a single-line package cannot be audited and cannot be argued with if it drifts. For a Namibian family that itemization does double duty: the Namibia dollar is pegged one-to-one to the South African rand, and Namibia sits inside the Common Monetary Area, whose common exchange rules treat documented medical treatment abroad as a recognized purpose your bank can process against evidence such as an itemized hospital quote. Paperwork and limits change, so confirm the current position with your bank early — the documents we produce are written to serve as that evidence. Treatment money goes straight from you to the hospital on the hospital's own invoice and never passes through us; our facilitation fee is published separately.
Windhoek to India in one stop, planned around admission
There is no non-stop Windhoek–India flight as of mid-2026, but the one-stop picture is workable: a Windhoek–Doha service runs a few times weekly and connects across India, and frequent short flights to Johannesburg open further routings through Dubai, Doha or Addis Ababa, with total journeys running roughly fifteen to twenty hours. For a cardiac patient, connection quality beats fare, so the itinerary is built around your confirmed admission date with rest built in, not bent around a timetable chosen to trim a little off the airfare. Namibian nationals are generally eligible for India's e-Medical visa, applied for entirely online, with the High Commission of India in Windhoek available for paper cases; companions can apply for linked e-Medical Attendant visas, and OCI cardholders need no visa at all. Confirm today's eligibility and validity terms on the official Indian visa portal at application, as rules shift. We coordinate the hospital invitation letter the application needs, and Tripcuro plans the flights, airport pickup and accommodation near the hospital.

What to prepare
- Your most recent ECG and echocardiogram reports, alongside the angiogram images on disc or by file transfer from any catheterization
- A complete prescription list with doses, naming blood thinners specifically, together with any allergies
- A referral or summary letter from your treating cardiologist in Namibia, describing what has been advised
- Any recent blood work you hold — kidney markers, blood counts — as it shapes what a surgical team can plan
- An early conversation with your bank about the current paperwork and limits for documented medical payments abroad
- A funding plan naming who pays the hospital and how each payment reaches it directly
- Your family's two or three most pressing questions, set down in writing ahead of the review
